Crochet I Wanna Dance With Somebody Dress

I Wanna Dance With Someone Crochet Dress

After making the Moondance Cardigan out of Lion Brand’s Truboo yarn, I knew I wanted to make something else with it. The yarn is so soft, silky, and keeps you cool when wearing it. I thought it would be a great fiber for a swimsuit cover up.

I wanted a design that was somewhat simple and straight forward so that it would be easy to wear. I wanted the shoulders and upper arms covered, since that is where I always burn. But I wanted the neckline a little more open since it is summer, and also for comfort when wearing swimsuits that are halter or tie at the neck. This would keep everything from being all at the same place and feeling bulky. However….

Crochet Moondance Cardigan Pattern

Moondance Cardigan pattern by www.CityFarmHouseStudio.com

Last summer I realized I didn’t have any summer garments that I made. This winter when I wore all of my wool sweaters, hand knit hats, cuddled in my crochet blankets, and wrapped into all of my cowls and scarves I really noticed the tip in balance between winter to summer projects. So, I began to think of what I would like to have for the warmer months.

First, I came across Lion Brand’s Truboo yarn that is made out of bamboo. With this fiber I thought it would be a great option for something breathable for the warmer months. It also is a category 3 light yarn so it would make a thinner garment that wouldn’t be too bulky.

Crochet Traveler’s Sunrise Sweater Pattern

Crochet Traveler's Sunrise Sweater by www.CityFarmhouseStudio.com

Several years ago I was given a sweater that used to be my grandfathers. It isn’t a fancy sweater, it is one of the sweat shirts that you get at a big box store. The one that the style has been around for multiple decades. Again, nothing fancy and pretty lacking in all style and fashion. Even as basic as it is, it quickly became one of my favorites to wear since it is warm and so very comfy. It is large enough that I can layer it over something and still not feel restricted.

We had some trips coming up, and on vacation I want to be comfortable but also presentable since I know that any moment could be preserved in photos. I wondered if I could take the basic shape of my beloved sweater, add some details and style to it, and make it something that would be comfortable to travel in. But, it needed to be stylish enough to be worn out and about and not feel like I was wearing something I slept in.

Crochet Weekender Cardigan Update

One of my most favorite patterns, and apparently others also, is our Weekender Cardigan pattern. Of course, not long after releasing the pattern the yarn I used had been discontinued. Since it was made prior to doing videos, I received quite a few questions about the sleeve because it is made from shoulder down. People think it is cuff up and get worried with the foundation chain being so short and not going around their wrist.

Crochet Quilter’s Dish Scrubby

My mom is a quilter. My aunt is a quilter. I have wonderful quilts from my ancestors I have never met. Yet, I am not a quilter.

I can sew, and have made some of my own clothes. However, I do not quilt. The meticulous amount of measuring and making sure everything is square does not come across as relaxing to me, and if it brings more stress into my life I try to avoid it if at all possible. How crochet and knitting is less stressful I’m not sure. Perhaps I learned when things were calmer in my life, and now the “stressful” bits I just know how to get through better.

Women’s Crochet Vacation Shoes

Every summer my husband and I take our 4 kids on week long family vacation. We always stay a few days with family, and then a few days being tourists in different cities. This year I wanted a pair of shoes that were comfortable to walk in through all the tourist site-seeing, but something that also was cute. I wanted something different than my usual running shoes.

I went shopping at different stores and quickly found out that the type of shoe I wanted either cost way more than I wanted to spend, or if they were around the price I wanted then they were by no means comfortable since there was barely anything to them.

From previously seeing that there were shoe patterns crocheted on flip flops for bases I figured I could make me a pair to be what I wanted for vacation. Luckily Dollar Tree had a large inventory of flip flops for $1, I had some Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton in my stash; so with little investment I was ready to try making me a pair of shoes.

Jewel’s Crochet Flower Blanket

Earlier this month I posted Jewel’s Flower Motif pattern. The motif came out so well that ideas for other items kept coming to me. Living in Michigan we always need lap blankets, and I can never have enough. So, I started making more of these oh-so-sweet flower motifs.

Once I had 7 made I joined them together and created a boarder around them that would mimic the petals to tie it all together. The result is a dimensional and graphic blanket that measures 37″ x 38.” I was quite surprised that having the single motif be designed for a child’s toy blanket for her cat; the panels all together have nothing childish about it. Don’t get me wrong, our kids and cats still love it – just so do the grown ups.

Jewel’s Crochet Flower Motif Pattern

If you follow me on Instagram you have probably seen or read about my cat, Darla. Darla is 16 years old, crabby, and my cat by her choice. The kids have always wanted to hold her, cuddle her, baby her, sleep with her, and just plain love her. Unfortunately, Darla doesn’t want any of it from them. Just from me and my mom, and a little from my husband if food is involved. Everyone else gets grunts or hisses before she runs off.

So, this spring we decided to adopt two kittens, one for each of the girls to have their own cat to spoil. We welcomed into our house a white girl kitty named Jewel, and a brown boy that was quickly named Donut. They have been perfect additions to our family.
