Front:

COR

Cast on with waste yarn 156 (170, 186) st on main bed. 78 (85, 93) on each side of center.

With main yarn K15 rows.

Transfer all stitches to ribber except leaving the below stitches on main bed to begin pattering:

Small: 2,3,4; 19,20,21;  24,25,26;  41,42,43;  46,47,48;  63,64,65;  68,69,70

Medium: 2,3,4;  21,22,23;  26,27,28;  45,46,47;  50,51,52;  69,70,71;  74,75,76

Large: 2,3,4; 23,24,25;  28,29,30;  49,50,51;  54,55,56;  75,76,77;  80,81,82

K15 rows.

Transfer all stitches to front bed, hang hem, transfer all stitches to pattern again (garter bar helps with this process).

K2 rows. RC 32 (32, 32)

Note: for the next section you will need to read where the stitches are on the bed to determine what to do next.  If you look at how the patterning is set up, consider the three stitches on each side of the main bed center to be one group.  Then, as you move out on each side you will see a cluster of 6 stitches near each other to create groups.  To create the pattern in the sweater you will be moving each half of the cluster away from each other, and then back together.   This will create the curved design elements in the pattern.

To begin the curves of the pattern, use a three prong transfer tool. Move each three needles of clusters away from each other, adding empty needles between the center of each cluster.  Move the single stitch on the ribber that now has an overlapping needle on main bed to be opposite of the previously occupied stitch in the center of the cluster.  Refer to below picture for illustration:

Hand manipulated stitches for Machine Knit Yamasaki Sweater pattern

Do this step for all clusters.

*K2 rows. Repeat transfer of needles increasing the distance between each cluster by 2 needles* Repeat from * to * until there are 2 (2, 2) empty needles between one edge of a cluster and the next cluster; 6 (7, 8) times.

K6 (6, 8) rows. RC 48 (50, 54)

Repeat transfer of stitches in opposite direction to achieve original needle position. RC 58 (62, 68)

K30 rows. RC 88 (92, 98)

Move needles 63 (69, 75) and needle 70 (76, 82) to ribber.  This will begin to stop the patterning on the outside cluster lines as they move to become purl stitches as part of the main body. K6 rows.

Move needles 64 (70, 76) and 69 (75, 81) to ribber. K6 rows.

Move needles 65 (71, 77); 68 (74, 80);  41 (52, 49), and 48 (45, 56) to ribber.  K6 rows.

For all sizes seam shoulders of front to back.

Hang neckline so the main area of the back that is purl faces away from you on main bed, and purl side of front faces you on ribber. On one needle of main bed put one side of shoulder seam, and on one needle of ribber bed put other side of should seam.  Do this for each side of the shoulder.

Starting on the right of the main bed single crochet around each needle of the main bed behind the garment. Continue the same for the ribber from left to right.  Put last loop on hook in farthest right in use needle hook.  Thread carriage on right.

Set machine to circular knit so that the machine will knit the ribber going from right to left, and the main bed from left to right. Needles are at half pitch.  Both dials still set to T5.
