Machine Knit Simple Stitch Sweater Pattern

After using Lion Brand Coboo Yarn for my Crochet Daydream Believer Top, I knew I wanted to make something knit out of it. The crocheted top has such drape, and it is so soft next to the skin I was excited to see what it would be knitted.

I did a swatch using several different gauges on my knitting machine to see what each looked and felt like. While the smaller gauge had beautiful stitch definition, the larger gauge had such great drape and softness I knew I wanted something with that. I also liked the reverse side of the stockinette since I could see the full knit structure for great depth and texture on the fabric surface.

Machine Knit Wingspan Shawl Pattern

Recently I made the crochet Beyond the Sea Shawl and realized it had been a while since I did a knit shawl. Now, since the Estrela Lace machine knit shawl pattern is rectangle, I wanted to make one that was either triangular or crescent in shape.

Being machine knit, and working on an LK150 with a limited amount of needles posed a major constraint. To get the angles I wanted for the shape of the shawl using only 150 needles available on the mid gauge, the gauge would need to be so open that the stitches wouldn’t look right. Another hurdle was getting the rate of decrease to be easy to remember and work with, and not something that was really random and hard to remember as you were making the shawl.

Machine Knit Put Your Records On Pattern

A while ago I made a sweater for my dad out of this 100% worsted wool yarn. I loved the color, and living in Michigan I have come to love wool more and more each year. I had purchased plenty of skeins, and just so happened to have a sweaters quantity left over for me to make something for myself!

Most of my wool items have been sweaters, so I wanted to make cardigan that could help get me more through the transitional seasons since the wool cardigans I have are bulkier and warmer.

Machine Knit Wrap Sweater Scarf Pattern

At the end of 2024 I shared my Crochet Wrap Sweater Scarf, and I had to bribe our 12 year old that I would make her one so that I could wear it. She loves it so much that every time I wear it she gives me a jealous look.

I decided to make her’s a knit version, and used tuck stitches to create the texture in the scarf portion that wraps around the body.

Choose Your Own Adventure – Knit, Machine Knit, or Crochet Slipper Shoes

Last year I made both of our girls some house shoes out of thick and cozy yarn they picked out from the store. Both of them love their pairs and wear them quite a bit. This year, the youngest came home from school and said her teacher will let them wear slippers in the classroom instead of cold and wet shoes from the playground. But, they need to have a hard sole incase they step on anything.

Well, the ones I made last year don’t have anything on the bottom so they won’t work. I previously made for the girls a kids’ size of our Vacation Shoes pattern, but working into a pair of flip flops takes time and effort. And, in all honesty, I didn’t want to put that much effort into a pair of shoes that she will out grow in a few months.

Children’s Knit Dream of a Cardigan Pattern

As I mentioned in the adult Dream of a Cardigan Pattern, our 11 year old was hoping that she would get to keep the one I made for myself after she tried it on. I love the cardigan too much to give it up, but couldn’t resist the love for it that I saw in her eyes, too.

So, we went to Michaels to pick out what color of yarn she wanted for her own Dream of a Cardigan. She picked out this lighter blue color, that honestly, in the store I was not fond of. But, she loved it and had decided upon it. I even took her picture with several up against her shoulder so that she could see how it looked next to her. With her having more red in her hair it does impact how some colors look, but for the most part all looked good. She liked the blue the best and thought it would work well with many of the things in her wardrobe. So, the yarn was purchased and now I needed to make her one of her own.

Dream of a Cardigan Knitting Pattern

Have you ever made a new clothing garment, put in all the hours, patiently seamed it, diligently wove in ends so it would be just perfect, and in the end you are absolutely in love with it? You love it so much you would wear it every day it is so comfortable, would be appropriate for lounging around the house to wearing to work, and basically just want to live in it. That is this cardigan and why I call this pattern the Dream of a Cardigan, because it is just like a dream it is so fantastic.

Knit Summer Breeze Top

Close to twenty years ago I had a black top that had a very simple shape, wide sleeves, simple details for the edgings, and a v-neck. I loved it. I could dress it up for work, or down with a pair of jeans to run errands. Either way it was so comfortable to wear, a major plus for me.

I wore it for many years, and it was starting to show how much I loved it. With great sadness I had to get rid of it.

This summer I was thinking about what I could make to have more hand made items for my summer wardrobe, and this memory came to mind. I wanted to create something that had the comfort, versatility, and ease in styling with the simplistic design elements.
