Needle

Crochet Hook:   G for ZZ Twist and Jeans Yarn; H for Baby Soft Yarn

Stitch Gauge: 4” x 4” = 20 sc x 24 rows

Stitch Guide: Sc2tog = single crochet 2 together.  Insert hook into first st.  Pull up loop.  Insert hook into next stitch.  Pull up loop.  Yarn over and draw that loop through all 3 loops on hook.  This creates one stitch decrease.

Sun Dress: 

Ch41.

Rnd 1:  Sc in first ch to form loop.   Sc in each ch following.  Place a stitch marker in the last made stitch. (41)

Rnd 2:  Sc in 1st st of previous row, and in each following st in a spiraling manner until there are 6 additional rows above the stitch marker.

Rnd 3:  Sc2tog, 39sc. (40)

Rnd 4:  9sc, Sc2tog , 29sc. (39)

Rnd 5:  19sc, sc2tog, 18sc. Place a stitch marker in the last made stitch. (38)

Rnd 6:  Continue sc in each stitch in a spiraling manner until there are 2 complete rows above marker.

Make front panel of dress

Row 1-3:  Ch1 turn.  13sc.

Row 4:  Ch1 turn.  Skip 1st sc.  12sc.

Row 5:  Ch1 turn.  Skip 1st sc.  11sc.

Row 6:  Ch6.   Place stitch marker in loop to prevent stitches from dropping.  Loop will be picked up in Row 8 when making back panel.  Cut yarn leaving enough tail for one more sc, binding off, and weaving in the tail.

Make back panel of dress

Row 1:  Return to Row 1 of the front panel where you did your first ch1.  Count over 6 unworked sts moving away from the 13sc that were created to form the front panel.  With a slip knot on hook sc in the 7th unworked st and in the following 12 sts for a total of 13sc.  This creates the back panel of the dress.

Row 2-4:  Ch1 turn.  13sc.

Note: there will be 4 rows total of 13sc  – one more than other side.

Row 5:  Ch1 turn.  Skip 1st sc.  12sc.

Row 6:  Ch1 turn.  Skip 1st sc.  11sc.

Row 7:  Ch6.  Sc in top corner of front panel of dress on matching side to create a shoulder strap.  Bind off.

Row 8:  Pick up loop being held from Row 6 of front panel.  Sc in back panel on matching side to create second shoulder strap.

Bind off.

Make bottom lace on lower edge of dress (optional with color 2)

Rnd 1:  41sc in beginning starting chain.  Sl st in 1st st of row.

Rnd 2:  Ch3 turn.  1sc in first sc of previous row.  *Ch3, sk 2 sts, 1sc (large arc created), ch 3, 1sc in same st (small arc created).*  Repeat to end.  Ch3 and sl st in 1st ch of row.

Rnd 3-4:  Ch3 and turn.  1sc in big arc to create a small arc. *Ch3, sk small arc, 1sc in next big arc, ch3, sc in same arc.*  Repeat to end.  Ch 3, and sl st in 1st ch of row to create large arc.

Bind off.

Neckline detail (optional with color 2)

Sc in corner of neckline and sc in the next following st. *Sk 1 st.  4dc in next st.  Sk 1 st, 1sc.*  Repeat once till one stitch remains.  1sc in that last remaining stitch.  10dc around ch.  Sc in 1st st corner of dress and in the following st.  *Sk 1 st.  4dc in next st.  Sk 1 st, 1sc.*  Repeat once, leaving one stitch unworked.  1sc in last remaining st.  10dc around ch.  Sl st in 1st sc made.

Bind off.

Pants

1/8” elastic cord sewn or tied in a knot to form a 6” diameter circle.

Rnd 1:  41sc around cord.  Place a stitch marker in last st.

Continue hdc in each st in spiraling pattern for an additional 6 rows directly below stitch marker.  From the last st made count back and put a stitch marker in 22th st from hook.

Make inseam

Row 1-3:  Ch1 turn.  2hdc.

Row 4:  Make 1sc in the space next to stitch marker in Rnd 2.

Be sure you are inserting hook hook from the right side of the fabric.  This creates the first leg opening.  18hdc around remaining sts, and 3hdc evenly along inner leg area.

Make leg

Rnd 1:  Starting in first hdc of previous row, 21hdc around.

Rnd 2-3:  19hdc, sc2tog.

Note: For pants continue on.  For shorts 1sc, 1sl st and bind off.   Continue to next section.

Rnd  4-5:  20dc.

Rnd 6:  19hdc, sc2tog.

Rnd 7:  19hdc.

Rnd 8:  17hdc, sc2tog. (bind off for 8” mini doll)

Rnd 9:  18hdc.

Rnd 10:  16hdc, sc2tog.

Make 2nd leg

Find the stitch marker placed at the end of the main body, and with a slip knot on hook sc in the unworked st next to it.

Continue hdc in each st in spiraling pattern for an additional 6 rows directly below stitch marker.  This will create a total 7 rows of hdc for the body.  From last st made count back and put a stitch marker in 11th st from hook.

Row 1:  11hdc.

Make inseam

Row 1-3:  Ch1 turn.  2hdc.

Row 4:  Make 1sc in the space next to stitch marker in previous section (reference first image in pants pattern).  Be sure you are inserting hook hook from the right side of the fabric.  This creates the first leg opening.  18hdc around remaining sts, and 3hdc evenly along inner leg area.

Make leg

Rnd 1:  Starting in first hdc of previous row, 21hdc around.

Rnd 2-3:  19hdc, sc2tog.

Note: For pants continue on.  For shorts 1sc, 1sl st and bind off.   Continue to next section to make 2nd leg.

Rnd  4-5:  20dc.

Rnd 6:  19hdc, sc2tog.

Make 2nd leg

Make sleeves  (optional with color 1)

Seam up arm side openings through the last decrease that was made.

Rnd 1:  17hdc evenly around.

Rnd 2:  17hdc.

Rnd 3: 15hdc, sc2tog.

Rnd 4:  *Ch3, sk1st, sc.* Repeat for 7 arcs.  Ch3, sk1st, sl st in 1st ch of ch3 of row.

Bind off.  Repeat for other sleeve.

Neck line detail (optional with color 2)

Row 1:  Starting in lowest corner on one side of v neck, 35hdc evenly around ending on the lowest edge of opposite side of v neck.

Row 2:  Ch3 turn.  Skip first 2 sts of previous row, sc in the back loop (or loop that is on the inner most edge of garment near bobbles) of the following st.  *Ch3, sk 1 st, sc in back loop.*  Continue to end.

Bind off.

Shells Dress:

Ch20.

Row 1:  Hdc in 2nd ch from hook.  Hdc in each ch to end.  (19)

Row 4-6:  Ch1 turn.  7hdc.

Row 7-11:  Ch1 turn.  3hdc.

Bind off.

To create the other side of front panel, have a slip knot on hook.  Insert hook in same center stitch last worked in of Row 2.  Be sure to insert your hook as you would to crochet away from the side that was already worked.  Make 1sc.  6hdc leaving 3 remaining stitches unworked.

Rnd 1:  Ch2, turn and dc in same space as ch2.  *Sk 1 st, sc, sk 1 st, (2dc, ch1, 2dc) in same st*  repeat to make 9 full shell like motifs.  Sk 1 st and sc in next.  2dc in the same space as the ch2.  Ch1 and (optional with color 1) sl st in top of 2nd ch of beginning ch2 of row.

Rnd 2:  Ch1 and turn.  Sk 2 st, in the sc of the previous row (2dc, ch1, 2dc).  *Sk 2 sts and sc in ch space of next shell like motif.  Sk 2 sts (2dc, ch1, 2dc).*   Continue repeating ending with (2dc, ch1, 2dc) in the last sc from previous row.  Sl st in beg chain (optional with yarn color 2).

Note: for a dress continue.  For a shirt bind off.

Rnd 3:  Ch2, turn and dc in same space as sl st.   *Sk 2 sts and sc in ch space of next shell like motif.  Sk 2 sts (2dc, ch1, 2dc).*   Repeat to end with a sc in the top of the ch space of the last shell like motif of previous row.  Sk 2 sts, 2dc, ch1, (optional with yarn color 1) sl st in top of beginning ch.

Repeat Rnd 2 and 3.  In last row sl st in top of ch space of the last shell like motif of previous row instead of a sc.

Make sleeves  (optional with color 1)

Dc in the same space as the sl st of previous row.  *Sk 2 sts and sc in ch space of next shell like motif.  Sk 2 sts (2dc, ch1, 2dc).*   Continue repeating ending with 2dc, ch1 in the same space as first dc of row.  Sl st in the top of the 2nd ch of beginning ch in row.

Bind off.  Repeat for other sleeve.

Neckline detail (optional with color 2)

Starting in lowest corner on one side of v neck, 35sc evenly around.  End in the lowest edge of opposite side of v neck.  Bind off.  Sew a snap on the top edge of neck to secure.

Optional waist detail (optional with color 2)

Create a slip knot on hook and a long extra tail then remove from hook.  Insert hook through fabric 1 row below “V” of  v neck.  Pull up loop from slip knot through fabric, and evenly sl st around body through holes by pulling yarn up from the inside of the fabric.  Sl st in the last st before beginning stitch.  Bind off leaving a long tail.  Tie bow with tails.

Small Shoes (1 ¼” foot length)

Ch5.

Rnd 1:  Starting in 2nd from hook 3sc. 3sc in last ch. 2sc in unworked side of chain. 2sc in end.

Rnd 2:  Sc in first sc of previous row. 10sc

Repeat Rnd 2 twice.

Row 1:  Make 1sc.  Ch1 turn.  7sc.

Row 2:  Ch1 turn.  7sc.

Repeat Row 2 once.

Row 3:  Ch1 turn.  1sc, sc2tog, 1sc, sc2tog, 1sc
