A knit hat is essential if you are a knitting and living somewhere that gets any where cold. Being in Michigan, we have plenty of cold days. I have several knit hats that I have made, but none that I designed. So, for this year I wanted something that I came up with, so here is the Knit Winter Windows Beanie Hat

I love the look of cables, but find they can be a bit intimidating. For this pattern I created a pattern of one stitch crossing over another so that it is easy to manipulate. With one column moving back and forth it is easy to keep track of where you are in the pattern and what you need to do next.
The yarn, Premier Wool Select Dk, has unfortunately been discontinued. I have listed some alternatives. Paint Box Yarns has an option that appears super similar in construction, material usage, weight, and yardage. I also was able to create this hat with Premier Cotton Fair yarn. The stitch definition was different since it didn’t fluff up like the wool yarn. Whatever yarn you do use, please check your gauge.
