One of the things I like most of the Summer Spiral Scrubby is the alternating sections of scrubby to cotton yarn. Not only does the change in material and color give it an interesting design appearance, but it also gives a nice material for washing dishes.
Following the same idea for the By the Ocean Dish Cloth, I alternated the yarns in lines by just carrying the yarn up along the side. This creates the alternating colors and materials without having all the ends to weave in at the end. A final round of single crochet around the edges hide the yarn that was brought up along the side and it gives a finished edge to the dish cloth.
The final dish cloth measures 9 inches square, a perfect size for washing dishes. The texture of the dish cloth is not too aggressively abrasive. I just may make one of these for myself to use in the bathtub to exfoliate!
I really enjoyed watching the lines of texture and color develop while making this dish cloth. I hope you find as much enjoyment in making it, and perhaps a little more enjoyment while doing dishes – or exfoliating in the bath.
